El Día de Muertos o Día de los Muertos, es una fiesta mexicana que se celebra en todo México, en particular en las regiones Central y Sur, y por personas de herencia mexicana en otros lugares. Las celebraciones de varios días involucran a familiares y amigos que se reúnen para orar y recordar a los amigos y familiares que han muerto, apoyandoles asi en su viaje espiritual. En la cultura mexicana, la muerte es vista como una parte natural del ciclo humano. Los mexicanos lo ven no como un día de tristeza sino como un día de celebración porque sus seres queridos despiertan y celebran con ellos.
En el año 2008, la tradición fue inscrita en la Lista Representativa del Patrimonio Cultural Inmaterial de la Humanidad por la UNESCO.

The multi-day celebrations involve family members and friends who gather to pray and remember friends and family members who have died, thus supporting them in their spiritual journey. In Mexican culture, death is seen as a natural part of the human cycle. Mexicans see it not as a day of sadness but as a day of celebration because their loved ones wake up and celebrate with them.
In 2008, the tradition was inscribed on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.
